Xilica Participates in Australia Sales & Tech Seminar:
Xilica Audio Design’s distributor in Australia – Group Technologies – organized a 5 day sales and technical seminar at their facility just north of Melbourne July 14-18th. In attendance were Group Technologies manufactures from around the world (Xilica, Nexo, DigiCo, RCF, and Camco to name a few). This was an excellent opportunity for Xilica to work closely with Group Technologies and to support their clients in that region. Attending on behalf of Xilica Audio Design were Eddie Tam from our Asia office (head of software engineering) and Barry Steinburg from our head office in Canada (sales manager). Sales manager Barry Steinburg commented “Everyone at Xilica would like to thank Group Technologies for this wonderful opportunity to work closely with them and their clients. Based on how professional and well managed this very successful week long seminar was Eddie and I left Australia with a new reference for what distributors are capable of, how such seminars should be managed, and the depth of what can be accomplished”.
July 21, 2014 – Xilica Supports Distributors in New Zealand and Singapore:
After the conclusion of the July 14-18 seminars attended in Australia, sales manager Barry Steinburg from the Canadian office continued on to provide sales and technical seminars for our distributor in New Zealand (MusicWorks) as well as new Xilica distributor Systematik Engineering in Singapore. Sales manager Barry Steinburg commented “Like the seminar sessions just completed in Australia this was a wonderful opportunity for Xilica to support our distributors and their clients in New Zealand and Singapore. I would like to thank Drew from MusicWorks in New Zealand and Mark, Nicholas, and Edwin from Systematik Engineering in Singapore for your kindness, the work you undertook to provide your seminars, and the fabulous dealer and consultant turn out at each session”.

Xilica at NAMM / A picture is worth a thousand words.
Tim Cheung from the Xilica Asia office and Donny Chow, Barry Steinburg, and Andrea Chow from the Canadian office represented Xilica Audio Design at the January 2014 NAMM show in California. Sales manager Barry Steinburg commented “We spend a fair amount of time and focus educating DSP clients about why we use high sample rate, high bit rate, floating point architecture in our X Series processor and thus I get asked often about the reality of our statements regarding our DSP audio performance. Just before leaving for NAMM I was going through a favourite high end HiFi magazine and an article caught my eye. We OEM one of our digital processors to Legacy Audio – a US designer and manufacturer of fabulous high end HiFi loudspeakers – and there was an article and a small picture of some new Legacy speakers being demonstrated at a HiFi show in Denver. Of course they had borrowed some very expensive source and amplifier electronics to optimize the performance of their speakers. I did some research and discovered that the list price of the electronics was $200,000.00. And the list price for the speakers was $20,000.00. Wow! I read the short article and was about to move on when I noticed a black object positioned on the carpet below the racked electronics. The picture is small so a magnifying glass was required in order to tell what the black object sitting on the carpet was. I was thrilled to see our XP series processor sitting there. They say a picture is worth a thousands words. So for the NAMM show, every time someone asked me about the X- Series audio performance I simply handed them an enlarged photo copy of the magazine article picture on which I had hand written the $220,000.00 total list price of the speakers and electronics and the $1210.00 list price of our XP processor sitting on the carpet. It worked. One picture – no words required”.

Xilica Uno Series DSP at Deluxe
Xilica Audio Design’s Barry Steinburg (taking the picture) and Andrew Arathoon (far right) along with John McArthur from PAG Canada (second from right) who represent Xilica in Canada demonstrated their Uno Series app configured digital processors to Deluxe Post Audio in Toronto in February 2013. The mandate at Deluxe for a new DSP solution for some of its rooms was superb audio performance, a reduction in hardware I/O costs and value. The predesigned Uno app schematic provided to Deluxe included presets for 5.1 and 7.1 surround as well as a specific IMAX preset. The combined labour and hardware cost savings provided by the Uno’s app configured / pre-designed schematic layout and the Uno’s flexible 16×16 I/O in one 1RU chassis kept costs within budget and the Uno’s best in class audio performance passed the audio test with flying colours. Sales manager Barry Steinburg commented “Audio performance is very important to Xilica Audio Design even in the Uno’s DSP market segment. Where most of our competition use inferior sounding 24 bit fixed architecture we only use 40 bit floating point DSP architecture. The audio performance advantage is obvious. In addition, we only use high performance 24 bit converters and premium grade mic pre-amps for the same reasoning. Our goal is to always provide best in class audio performance with all our digital processors”.
